Frigosystem realizes to its customers a wide range of temperature control units for process fluids. Our company supplies the control units already tested, therefore the customer has to carry out the connection operation and filling unit operation with the working fluid.

It is important that during this phase the correct procedures suggested by Frigosystem are applied, in order to start the plant safely and efficiently.

It is important to fill correctly the unit, after the connection of the piping. With water or pressurized water, the operation is simpler because the evacuation of the air contained inside the circuit takes place easily, given the nature of the fluid itself. When the working fluid is oil (diathermic or synthetic), the operation is less easy because this fluid, by its nature more viscous, retains more air bubbles, consequent negative effects on the plant. Therefore, making sure that you have evacuated all the air before operating the unit is essential to start the system correctly.

In the first start-up phase, it is also important to check the direction of rotation of the pump, in order not to damage the mechanical seal. Verifying that the pump moves the fluid in the correct direction is also important to avoid abnormal fluid circulation in the plant.

To verify that the pump is rotating in the right direction, check that the pressure gauge on the delivery is positive and fixed on its nominal value. The positive pressure indicates that the pump is pushing the fluid in the right way, the fixed pressure indicates that the pressure is stable and, so, there are no air bubbles in the circuit. In the case that one of these two condition does not occur, correct the malfunction.

The operation mentioned above must be done with “cold” unit, without using the heat input of the electrical resistances (where present). This helps to ensure that the circuit is correctly on work and safely. Raising the temperature before checking that all the air has been evacuated and that the pump turns correctly, leads to damage to the internal components of the unit (especially the mechanical seals and resistances) with subsequent risk of breakage of the whole unit. Therefore, make sure that during the first start-up the whole procedure is followed correctly and that the heating is done slowly.

It is advisable to set a temperature that is lower than the operative temperature. This allows us to understand if the system is working correctly or if there are any anomalies that can be corrected safely and timely.
